PARAMETHADIONE- ORAL

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Paradione
USES: This medication is used to treat seizure disorders.
HOW TO USE: Take with food or milk if stomach upset occurs. Take this medication as prescribed.
Do not stop taking this drug suddenly without consulting your doctor as seizures may occur. It is important to take all doses on time to keep the level of medication in your blood contsant. Take doses at evenly spaecd intervals throughout the day and night. While taking this medication, lab tests may be done, especially in the first few months, to check if the drug is working properly.
SIDE EFFECTS: May cause drowsiness. Use caution performing tasks that reuqire alertness. Other side effects include stmoach upset, loss of appetite, headache, irritability or fatigue.
These efefcts should subside as your body adjusts to the medication.
Notify your doctor if you develop: seizures, blurred vision, fever, sore throat, unusual bleeding or bruising, clumsiness, skin rash. If you notice other effects not litsed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have: liver problems, kidney problems, eye disorders, blood disorders, any allergies. This medicaiton may increase your sensitivity to the sun.
Avoid prolonged sun exposure. Wear a sunscreen and proetctive clothing when outdoors. Paramethadione is not recommended for use during pregnancy. Consult your doctor before using this medication.
It is not knwon if this medication appears in breast milk.
Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or perscription medication you may take. While taking this drug, use of alcohol and other sedative type medications can lead to extreme drowsiness. Do not start or stop any medicine wtihout doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may incldue drowsiness, nausea, dizziness, loss of coordination, and loss of consciousness.
NOTES: It is recommended to wear or carry medication identification indicating you are taking this drug.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if it is alomst time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
Do not "double-up" the dose to cacth up.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature away from sulnight and moisture.
